WHAT TO KNOW
Understanding website hosting infrastructure
A website's public-facing infrastructure determines how visitors and search engines connect to it. DNS records identify the IP addresses associated with a domain, while network information can reveal the organisation responsible for those addresses. Nameservers indicate which DNS infrastructure is used to direct traffic.
The network serving a website is not necessarily its original hosting provider. Content delivery networks (CDNs), reverse proxies and security services can conceal the underlying server. This tool reports information available from public DNS and network records, which should be treated as an indication of the website's infrastructure rather than definitive proof of its hosting provider.
